Who we are

Established in 2009, Boroughbridge Insurance Brokers Limited is a small team of insurance specialists with over 20 years experience in helping their clients to ensure adequate protection is in place to protect their businesses through the careful use of insurance products.

We like to visit each and every client wherever possible to ensure we fully understand your risk and the cover needed, we can select from a range of insurers to find the right cover for your individual circumstances - not all clients are the same so a "one size fits all" approach is definitely not what we are aiming to achieve. Meet our team

Doug Smith
Managing Director

Worked in the Motor Trade sector in both Franchise Dealers and Independent dealers before moving into Retail Management.

Started insurance career with Sun Alliance in 1990.

Moved to the Insurance Broking arm of the industry in 1994 with Warranty Holdings Insurance services, then moved to FM Green Insurance in 1997, became Sales Director at FM Green in 2003, moved to Bollington insurance in 2007 and founded Boroughbridge Insurance Brokers in 2009 whilst still associated with Bollington Insurance. Became an Appointed Representative of Arthur J Gallagher Insurance when Bollington was bought by Arthur J Gallagher in 2021.

Always been involved in Motorsport of some form or another since being able to drive, be it Autocross, Rallying, Racing and Hill climbing, currently competing in the Historic Rally Championship.
Ed Bazeley
Sales Director

Started insurance career at Hill House Hammond back in 1999 selling & advising on Personal Lines Motor and Household, it was from there that I progressed to Commercial Insurance and moved to T F Bell in Hinckley in 2003 where I developed a strong knowledge of Motor Trade, Construction, haulage and general Commercial Combined Insurance. I was invited to be part of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Transport and Recovery due to my links within the Vehicle Recovery Industry. I joined Boroughbridge Insurance Brokers in April 2015 and have continued with the same sectors of insurance and now have clients stretching from the North of Scotland to the Southwest in Devon and over to the Southeast in Kent and everywhere in between. 

I have always been interested in cars and enjoy tinkering with them as well as out enjoying the experience of driving them, whether that it playing with my Land Rover Defender in the mud, hills and water or burbling through the hills with the TVR Car Club
